The draft Resolution on the adoption of the draft Law of Ukraine “On Mentoring” as a basis has been sent to the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Humanitarian and Information Policy. The adoption of this law is intended to determine the legal and organizational principles of state policy in the field of mentoring. In turn, the draft law defines mentoring as a voluntary activity of individuals, business entities, public associations, charitable organizations aimed at developing the personal potential of a person who can be mentored, taking into account their individual needs and characteristics, which is carried out on a regular and free basis.
The draft law provides for individual mentoring, corporate mentoring, and supervision of mentors. The purpose of mentoring is to provide a person who can be mentored with support to overcome social, psychological and educational difficulties, develop necessary life skills, and increase the ability to live an independent and responsible life.
The main tasks of mentoring are: promoting personal development and self-realization; promoting the development of professional skills; supporting the educational process, development of self-education skills and professional orientation; promoting the formation of key life competencies; promoting the formation of responsibility and the ability to live independently; promoting professional development, employment or entrepreneurial activity; promoting the prevention of risky behavior; promoting the development of a safe and healthy lifestyle; promoting the development of parental competencies; promoting social adaptation and integration into society.
The selection of a mentor for a person who may be mentored will be carried out on the basis of an assessment of the needs of such a person, taking into account his wishes, the capabilities of the mentor and the recommendations of a psychologist. The Regulation on mentoring and the procedure for its organization will be approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine
